Die Ministerin
Play by Dirk Kurbjuweit
Is the party leader single? That's bad luck for her, because the interior minister has not only a husband, but also a disabled child. This makes her more sympathetic, which has a positive effect on the polls. However, she is also having an affair with the state secretary, who has a dark secret known to the head of the domestic intelligence service. The interior minister wants to become chancellor; the parliamentary party leader wants to overtake her. The pollster wants to profit from others' success, and the journalist needs a scoop. Anyone who trusts anyone else here is already a loser because, if you want to play at the top, loyalty is not an option. Files are sold, rumours are spread and even tragedies are exploited for profit. It doesn't matter who gets caught up in the race for power and influence; the important thing is to put yourself in the most advantageous position.
With Die Ministerin, journalist and novelist Dirk Kurbjuweit has created a bitterly cynical tale in which principles only matter as long as they further one's own advancement.
